Murphy, Donald R. “Jim” Formerly of Elmira, NY Age 71, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the home of his constant companion, Patricia Gurney in Sayre, PA. Surviving are: His children, Sandra (David) Sieputowski of Wallingford, CT Michael Murphy of Gillett, PA Grandchildren, Scott and Ryan Sieputowski and James and Nicholas Murphy Brothers, Donald (Donna) Murphy of Raleigh, NC Clifford (Nancy) Murphy of Elmira, NY Eugene (Jean) Murphy of Odessa, NY Several nieces, nephews, cousins and “adopted” children and grandchildren. Special cousin, Mary Frances Murphy of Elmira, NY He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet E. Murphy on July 10, 1988 Jim was a retired 42 year employee of New York State Electric and Gas where he served as a Line Foreman. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Athens where he served on the Vestry for several years. A member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1148, Sayre and Lodge Roma Madre No. 1342 Order Sons of Italy, Sayre. Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, June 9, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira. The funeral and committal service will be held there following calling hours at 8:00 PM with his pastor the Rev. Ned Caum officiating. Interment services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira at the convenience of the family. The family requests that memorials be directed to: Guthrie Hospice, RR 1 Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848, American Cancer Society, Chemung/Schuyler Unit, 627 W. Church St., Elmira, NY 14905, or Trinity Episcopal Church, 701 S. Main St., Athens, PA 18810 in Jim’s memory. Anyone that wishes may light a “Candle of Memory” in David’s name..
